Welcome to a sacred space for the soul. Founded on the spiritual principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, our retreat at St. Francis Springs is dedicated to the transformation of the 'wounded soul.'

Meet the Team

To make this retreat possible and successful we have engaged two wonderful and inspiring women to guide us throughout this retreat.

Cynthia “Cindy” Sloan

Our Retreat Leader 

Our Retreat Leader: Cynthia “Cindy” Sloan Cindy is a member of We Need Each Other and attends the Women’s Serenity and AA Women in Progress groups in Matthews, NC.

 

She has served as a hospital chaplain and substance abuse counselor in several treatment centers and has been a licensed clinical addiction specialist (LCAS) since 2006. Cindy also worked as Assistant Program Director for the Special Program on Substance Abuse and Related Violence with the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries. Trained at the Betty Ford Treatment Center in intervention and certified in Spiritual Caregiving for Addicts and Families, Cindy brings deep experience and compassion to her work.

 

She is a trained retreat leader and is completing certification in Spiritual Direction. Cindy is passionate about reducing shame and stigma around addiction. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, knitting, and painting with oils and watercolor.

Betty G. 

Matriarch & Retreat Visionsary

With more than two decades of experience in creating spiritual retreats, Betty G. is the foundation force of our team. Known for her boundless energy and deep commitment to the recovery community, Betty has a unique gift for turning a simple gathering into a life-changing experience. 

Betty operates from a place of profound love and a "spirit of service" that is truly contagious. She is dedicated to the growth of the fellowship, frequently mentoring others in the planning process to ensure the legacy of service continues to thrive and rotate. 

To know Betty is to know passion in action; she is a guiding light for every woman she meets.
